Student's Strong Mobility Between the Two Countries Under the Joint Degree Programs
The new Joint degree programs were developed and implemented by Gifu University and its overseas partner universities in April, 2019 through an integration of unique, ingenious curricula of each institution. A student studies at a partner university for a certain period of time within the given years to complete a program. He/she attends classes or is engaged in research activities at an international academic environment. The degree is jointly awarded from both institutions with signatures of duly authorized representatives on a single paper. Under the programs, no extension of university attendance is required to a student.
Advantages of JD
The joint degree programs offer a student an international graduate school level education that enables him/her to complete master's or PhD studies while being enrolled at Gifu University and its overseas partner universities (i.e. IITG or UKM).
＜Joint Degree (JD) Programs＞
In the joint degree (JD) programs, a single degree certificate is awarded from two or more partner universities to a student who has completed the program implemented by these universities. The revision of the University Establishment Standards has made it possible for a student to be jointly awarded from the multiple universities with signatures of duly authorized representatives of those institutions on a single paper.
One or multiple universities develop(s) and establish(es) the courses necessary to fulfill their educational goals at every level: university, faculty, division and course. These courses must be included the comprehensive curricula systematically developed by the university(ies). Every enrollees will be strictly screened their academic performances and only those who can meet the program completion requirements will be awarded a single degree certificate.
In implementation of single or multiple programs, one or more than two universities offer courses and research instructions to an enrollee.
