The Health Administration Center hosts 'Wellness Day × Nutrition Wonders' Event
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Health Administration Center at Gifu University and the National Federation of University Co-operative Associations Student Committee co-hosted the 'Wellness Day × Nutrition Wonders' event.
'Nutrition Wonders' is an event held in conjunction with 'Nutrition Day and Nutrition Week,' organized by the Japan Dietetic Association. The theme for 2024 is 'the delicious relationship between mouths and nutrition.' The event aims to enlighten people on optimal nutrition intake for maintaining good health.
During the event, participants received complimentary kiwi fruits and beverages from the event co-sponsoring companies, along with leaflets published by the Japan Dietetic Association. Even before the official opening, a long line of people had formed, and within just 90 minutes, the first 500 participants received kiwi fruits, drinks and leaflets at the site.
With support from the Gifu City Public Health Center, over 40 people including those who registered in advance for the event, had the opportunity to use a 'Shokuiku (food education) SAT System.' This system allows individuals to view nutritious values in numerical form by placing food on a sensor. It helps people assess the nutritional balance in their diet.
Additionally, members of the University Committee demonstrated how to use the 'Vege Check' equipment. They placed the sensor against their palms to estimate their vegetable intake. Over 60 people participated and tried the 'Vege Check.'
The following are comments from the participants, "I eat vegetables a lot, but I wasn't aware how much I actually consumed. I was impressed with the 'Vege Check' that quantifies my vegetable intake." "I was surprised to learn that many Gifu University students, including myself, consume fewer vegetables than expected," and "Whether it's high or low, the 'Vege Check' provided insights into our vegetable intake volume."
We hope that the 'Wellness Day × Nutrition Wonders' has not only inspired university students but also academic and administrative staff at Gifu University to develop a deep understanding of food and nutrition. We encourage them to lead healthy lives, drawing on what they have learned from the event.
In May 2024, the Health Administration Center and the National Federation of University Co-operative Associations Student Committee jointly opened the 'Wellness Room' in front of the University Co-operative Chyuo Branch on campus. Operating under the motto 'Make your health closer and familiar to you!,' staff are using a body composition monitor to assist visitors. Additionally, the room features an exhibition corner focused on health-related topics.
We have scheduled a series of health-related events to assist members of Gifu University in leading healthy and fulfilling lives in the years ahead.
