Mr. AKAMATSU Ryoichi and Mr. HONDA Motoi Report Results of JAAF Athletics Championships to the President

On Monday, July 7, 2025, Mr. AKAMATSU Ryoichi (a graduate of Gifu University Graduate School of Education and a research student at Gifu University Graduate School of Medicine, and he is currently affiliated with SEIBU PRINCE), Mr. HONDA Motoi (2nd-year student at the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Gifu University), and Associate Professor HAYASHI Ryohei (the Health and Physical Education Course, the Faculty of Education, Track and Field Club Advisor, and Akamatsu's personal coach) visited President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro to report the results of the 109th Japan Association of Athletics Federation (JAAF) Athletics Championships held on July 4 at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.

Mr. Akamatsu achieved an impressive second-place finish in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.25 meters. He commented with a smile, "Although I didn't secure an automatic spot for the World Athletics Championships by clearing the qualifying standard of 2.33 meters, I'm relieved to have achieved a good result."

Mr. Honda, who placed 14th with a jump of 2.10 meters, reflected, "Being in an environment where I can train alongside a top-level athlete like Mr. Akamatsu has allowed me to engage in high-level practice and communication as a fellow athlete. That's what led me to compete in the national championships. I want to continue aiming even higher."

President Yoshida praised their achievements, saying, "Having two athletes from a national university compete in Japan's top-level championship is truly a source of pride for our university. I hope you continue to inspire and challenge each other."

Mr. Akamatsu continues to maintain strong performance and is aiming to compete in the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo this September. Together with Coach Hayashi, he will keep striving toward success on the global stage.

Gifu University proudly supports students like Mr. Honda and Mr. Akamatsu who pursue challenges at the highest level.
