Gifu University Receives Platinum Certification in the Assessment System for Sustainable Campus (ASSC)

Gifu University has been awarded the highest level of certification - Platinum - in the 2024 Assessment System for Sustainable Campus (ASSC), in recognition of its efforts toward building a sustainable society. At the award ceremony held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Ritsumeikan University's Tokyo Campus, Professor SAKURADA Osamu from the Faculty of Engineering accepted the certificate on behalf of Gifu University from Dr. HyeSook PARK, Chairperson of Campus Sustainability Network in Japan (CAS-Net JAPAN).

The ASSC is an evaluation and certification system introduced by CAS-Net JAPAN to promote "university campuses that contribute to the creation of an environmentally conscious and sustainable society." It assesses institutions across four categories: "Operations," "Education and Research," "Environment," and "Community Engagement." Since the system's launch in 2014, a total of 118 universities have submitted responses, but only six - including Gifu University - have received Platinum certification.

Gifu University previously earned Gold certification in 2018 and achieved its first Platinum certification in 2021. With this latest renewal for the 2024 academic year, the university has once again secured Platinum status.

Gifu University remains committed to promoting environmentally conscious initiatives and realizing a truly sustainable campus.
