On Sunday, April 16, 2023, the opening ceremony for Local Lab Takayama was held (address: Shimonino-machi 6, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture (within "Murahan" (Takayama youth activity office)).

The Local Lab Takayama serves as a base to find solutions to regional issues and develop human resources capable of creating new businesses and co-existing with the community. Finding solutions to regional issues is the major objective of the "Gifu Region Human Resource Development Program: to establish academic infrastructure for regional revitalization¹" under the "Human Resource Development for Regional Revitalization: Supereminent Program for Activating Regional Collaboration (SPARC)" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

At the ceremony, Mayor TANAKA Akira of Takayama City, local residents, President of Chubugakuin University/ Chubugakuin College, and President of Gifu City Women's College (member universities of "SPARC-Gifu") attended and they listened to the overview of SPARC, initiatives of the Local Lab Takayama, and then took part in the unveiling ceremony for the new signboard of the Local Lab Takayama.

The Local Lab Takayama offers training opportunities to the local residents, hosts seminars for junior and senior high school students, "re-skilling" classes for working adults. Members of the Local Lab Takayama work together with local residents in promoting traditional industries and tourism and address social issues such as depopulation problems.
