Fifty-one people died in Mabi Town, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture when "Heavy rain of July, Heisei 30" hit the town in July 2018. Huge damages were also reported in Seki City and surrounding areas in Gifu Prefecture. Despite the fact that Gifu Prefecture was repeatedly hit by torrential rains in the past, the percentage of residents' evacuation remains low.
