Winning of MEXT Minister Award and Screening Committee Special Award at "Campus Venture Grand Prix"
On Friday, January 29, 2021, "Campus Venture Grand Prix (national level)" was held online, and it was announced that Gifu University team led by Mr. Shunya Chosokabe (1st year student, Department of Materials Science and Procession, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) won MEXT Minister and Technology Awards. His team members are: Ms. Rina Sawada (4th year student, Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, Faculty of Engineering) and Mr. Taiki Yoshikawa, (graduate school student, Aichi Institute of Technology). In addition, Ms. Nanako Nomura (3rd year student, Nursing Course, School of Medicine), received Screening Committee Special Award.
In the competition, Mr. Chosokabe and his team made a presentation on their unique business plan to create and commercialize mosquito-repellant cloths by using "crazing*" technology (the cloths are thought to prevent malaria infections). Ms. Nomura presented her career support program for students at nursing course.
On Monday, March 1, the team and Ms. Nomura reported their winning to President Hisataka Moriwaki at the Office of the President. Mr. Chosokabe introduced his dream of incorporating his business plan, and commercialization of mosquito-repellant cloths in the near future. Ms. Nomura expressed her wishes for creating a new information distribution system for nurses' school students across Japan by using newspaper delivered free of charge besides information posted on the internet.
"I am very impressed with the winning of the team and Ms. Nomura who are bringing about real innovations to formulating business plans and product creation," said President Moriwaki praising their outstanding achievements.
