Program Purpose and Significance
Weather and climate have a significant impact on many industries and society. Meteorological data and information can be used not only for disaster prevention but also to support a wide range of business activities and help solve societal challenges. However, many companies still rely heavily on experience and intuition and are not fully utilizing weather data in practice. To achieve Society 5.01, there is a growing need to cultivate highly skilled professionals--Meteorological Data Analysts--who can combine large-scale meteorological datasets (big data) with advanced data science to contribute to creating new regional businesses and solving local societal issues.
