Gifu University and Hichiso Town Sign MOU on the Establishment and Operation of "Holiday Hichiso High Schools"

The Promotion of Regional Collaboration, Gifu University and Hichiso Town in Gifu Prefecture signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Establishment and Operation of Holiday Hichiso High Schools on Friday, January 23, 2026. This MOU is based on the Agreement on Collaboration between Hichiso Town and Tokai National Higher Education and Research System Gifu University, concluded on August 1, 2024. Its purpose is to provide advanced learning opportunities for high school students in Hichiso Town on weekends and holidays. Through this initiative, it is expected that high school students will become motivated to learn and play a role as community leaders in the future.

In this program, Gifu University faculty members will visit the high schools in Hichiso Town and deliver specialized lectures to students. By offering an environment where students can experience advanced learning close to home, the program brings university-level research knowledge to the community, fosters young people who will contribute to the region's future, and promotes the appeal of Hichiso Town as a place that inspires dreams and aspirations.

At the signing ceremony, the MOU was signed by Professor SUGIYAMA Makoto, Director of the Promotion of Regional Collaboration, and Mayor HORIBE Katsuhiro of Hichiso Town. Mayor Horibe remarked, "We hope to enhance the learning of high school students who will shape the next generation of our community, and in doing so, increase the town's appeal as a place where young people can achieve their dreams." Director Sugiyama commented, "We want to use the university's knowledge to support the development of young people who will lead the region in the future."

With the signing of this MOU, Gifu University will actively provide opportunities for high school students--who represent the next generation of regional leaders--to deepen their learning and grow into individuals who can contribute to regional revitalization, thereby promoting community development.
