FY2025 Second Follow-up Training for Coordinators of School-Community Collaboration Held

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the FY2025 Second Follow-up Training for Coordinators of School-Community Collaboration was held on campus as part of the human resource development programs offered by the Gifu Center for Collaborative Activities between Communities and Schools (Gifu CCCS).

Gifu CCCS was jointly established by the Gifu Prefectural Government and Gifu University to support and promote collaboration between schools and local communities, helping foster children's healthy development and revitalize local areas. The center carries out activities under three main objectives:

1) Human Resource Development and Recruitment - In cooperation with municipalities and social education organizations, the center provides training for school-community collaboration coordinators and works to recruit and develop student volunteers.

2) Research and Study - The center conducts surveys and research in collaboration with municipalities and social education organizations, examining actual cases of school-community collaboration as well as pioneering practices in home-based educational support, and shares its findings.

3) Promotion - The center provides ongoing support to municipal governments by hosting public lectures and by having its staff participate in relevant workshops.

This follow-up training was conducted as part of the first objective, Human Resource Development and Recruitment. It was designed for individuals who have completed the basic training for school-community collaboration coordinators and are currently active in social education administration, public facilities such as community centers, schools, and community organizations throughout Gifu Prefecture. A total of 38 participants attended and further deepened their understanding of school-community collaboration.

In the first half of the program, Mr. FURUTANI Takuya from the Regional Development Department of the Gero City Government delivered a lecture titled "Integrated Promotion of 'Community Schools' and 'School-Community Collaboration Activities' in Gero City." He introduced initiatives led primarily by school management councils in Gero City, including year-round work experience programs, roundtable discussions with district leaders, outdoor activities, and participation in traditional local kabuki performances. He also shared examples of activities carried out by the Coordinators of School-Community Collaboration, incorporating group discussions. During the Q&A session, participants actively exchanged insights on topics such as the roles of coordinators, organizational relationships, and effective approaches to schools.

In the second half, facilitated by Center Director MASUKAWA Koichi, participants took part in group work using the KPT method. They organized what they are currently doing well (Keep), identified issues or challenges (Problem), and discussed what they would like to attempt moving forward (Try). Each group then presented its findings to all participants.

Although this year's follow-up training has now concluded, we look forward to seeing participants continue to apply what they have learned and remain active contributors in their local communities.
