Dr. HATANAKA Yuji, Clinical Lecturer at the University Hospital, Crowned World Champion in Surgical Skills Competition

Dr. HATANAKA Yuji, Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Digestive Surgery at the University Hospital, competed as a member of Team Japan in the international tournament, MIS Championship 2025, held in Singapore in November, where the world's top surgeons gathered. His team achieved the remarkable feat of winning first place globally. This championship focuses on Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) techniques, primarily laparoscopic procedures, evaluating precision, speed, and safety. Surgeons selected from countries around the world competed to demonstrate their skills.

Dr. Hatanaka earned his place on the Japanese team by winning first prize at the Japan Representative Selection Championship during the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery in December 2024. This victory granted him the right to participate in MIS Championship 2025.

His team's triumph this time is a significant achievement that demonstrates the high quality of the university's surgical education and research system, strengthening efforts to connect regional healthcare with world-class medical standards.

○ Comment from Dr. Hatanaka after winning
"I am truly honored to be a member of Team Japan that won the championship.
