GU Students Studying "Next-Generation Regional Leader Fostering Program" Co-host Traffic Safety Campaign with NEXCO Nakanihon
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, students who are studying Gifu University's "Next-Generation Regional Leader Fostering Program" co-hosted a traffic safety campaign with the Central Nippon Expressway Company Limited (NEXCO Nakanihon) at Oasis Park in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture. The event, titled "A Traffic Safety Campaign for Children and Adults," was designed to be both educational and enjoyable for families.
The campaign was led by five GU students. Over the course of a year, they worked closely with NEXCO officials to address the theme: "Solving challenges unique to NEXCO in ways that contribute to and are appreciated by the local community." Their efforts culminated in the initiatives aimed at strengthening the connection between expressways and local communities and promoting regional resources. They included the development of a novelty gift set featuring Mino washi paper soap and bamboo cutlery, as well as a quiz show targeting parents and children.
On the day of the event, 166 parents and children participated in the quiz show. The venue was filled with families, enjoying photo opportunities with NEXCO mascot "Michimaru-kun," observing expressway patrol cars and police motorcycles on display, and attending seatbelt safety session organized by JAF (Japan Automobile Federation) Gifu branch.
On Friday, April 25, GU students and their supervisors visited the NEXCO Nakanihon Nagoya Branch to report on their activities. Mr. NAKANE Toshiaki, Director of JAF Gifu Maintenance and Service Center, presented each student with a certificate of appreciation and encouraged them to continue demonstrating strong leadership in solving regional challenges.
