First Introduction of OCIO in National University Corporations for Fund Management
The Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS), which operates Gifu University and Nagoya University, will be the first national university corporation to introduce OCIO (Outsourced Chief Investment Officer) for fund management.
OCIO is a service that comprehensively outsources the formulation of investment policies and plans, execution of investments, and administrative procedures to external experts (such as consulting firms and investment companies). In recent years, its adoption has been underway in overseas countries, particularly in the United States, for pensions, university endowments, and foundations. In Japan, the Cabinet Secretariat's "Asset Owner Principle" formulated on August 28, 2024, also recommends the use of OCIO.
