Gifu University has signed a sponsorship agreement with AKAMATSU Ryōichi

Gifu University has signed a sponsorship agreement with AKAMATSU Ryōichi (a graduate of Gifu University Graduate School of Education, currently affiliated with SEIBU PRINCE, and a research student at Gifu University Graduate School of Medicine). He placed 5th in the men's high jump at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and this sponsorship agreement is expected to drive forth Akamatsu's future achievements.

On Wednesday, February 19, Akamatsu participated in the international competition "Stars in Nehvizdy 2025" held in the Czech Republic. He put on a uniform with the Gifu University logo and won with a record of 2.25 meters in the men's high jump. On Monday, March 10, Akamatsu visited President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro in the Office of the President, along with his coach, HAYASHI Ryōhei (Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education at the Faculty of Education) to report the results of the competition.

In the meeting, Akamatsu stated, "With the strong support from Gifu University, I was able to win the international competition. I will set higher goals for future competitions and strive to achieve even better results." In response, President Yoshida said, "Mr. Akamatsu is making constant efforts not only in competitions but also in research activities and promotion of university's educational activities. He is the pride of Gifu University. We are expecting you to continue leading everyone."

Gifu University will continue to support Akamatsu's activities in the fields of competition, research, and education.
