The Kumamoto City Board of Education Members Visit the Gifu Collaborative Activities Center between Communities and Schools.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Kumamoto City Board of Education members visited the Gifu Collaborative Activities Center between Communities and Schools (GIFU CCCS), which was jointly established by Gifu University and the Gifu Prefectural Government. The Center is engaged in pioneering initiatives aimed at supporting children's growth through a collaborative framework between the community and schools, while also revitalizing the local community.
The members included Mr. ENDO Hiromichi, Superintendent of the Kumamoto City Board of Education, along with the education board members and staff. First, Assistant Professor GOTO Seiichi from Gifu University and Ms. ANDO Yumiko, Director of Lifelong Learning Planning Division from the Gifu Prefectural Government, explained the Center's overview and activities. Following this, discussions were held among attendees including Professor MASUKAWA Koichi, Director of the GIFU CCCS and Assistant Professor FUTAMURA Rei from Gifu University. They exchanged views on the situations and challenges of their respective municipalities and schools. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, from specific methods of the community and school collaboration to the role of social educators and family involvement, providing a valuable exchange of new insights and perspectives of each party.
Through this visit, Mr. Endo expressed his high regard for the Center's activities, stating, "We would like to refer to the initiatives and support projects of the Center, which is a rare example of a joint establishment by university and prefectural government nationwide."
Gifu University, through the activities of GIFU CCCS, will continue to work in collaboration with the Gifu Prefectural Government to promote the community and school collaboration and further enhance its regional support.
