Partnership Agreement with Kani City

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Gifu University signed a partnership agreement with Kani City, Gifu Prefecture. Gifu University and Kani City have closely collaborated on many occasions, such as having university faculty serve as instructors for lifelong learning coordinator training courses. The new partnership agreement aims to build a comprehensive cooperative relationship between Gifu University and Kani City across diverse fields. By accelerating active collaboration sustainably and progressively, the agreement seeks to contribute to the formation and development of a vibrant local community and the cultivation of future leaders.

This is the 43rd comprehensive partnership agreement that Gifu University has signed with a municipality in Gifu Prefecture. With this agreement, Gifu University has signed agreements with all municipalities within the prefecture, including the Gifu Prefectural Government.

At the signing ceremony, Mayor TOMIDA Shigeki of Kani City stated, "Our city has a large foreign resident population, and Japanese, Portuguese, and Tagalog are commonly spoken in schools. There is a need for Japanese language learning support for children, but we face challenges in securing enough support staff. Additionally, translating specialized terms in government offices and medical institutions is challenging. We hope to receive proposals based on the diverse student body and the university's specialized research to address these problems. We would like to work together with Gifu University and our citizens to solve these issues."

President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University remarked, "As one of Japan's top regional core universities, Gifu University excels in industry, urban development, manufacturing, food production, healthcare, and human resource development. Kani City, with its rich history and culture, vast land, and industrial parks housing numerous companies, is an ideal place not only for Japanese students but also for international students to engage in internships, school practicum, and research. With the new partnership agreement coming into effect, we expect our collaboration to deepen even further.

Gifu University will continue to leverage its accumulated knowledge and technology to promote regional revitalization efforts in partnership with Kani City.
