The Gifu University Formula Racing Team placed 5th in the "Student Formula Japan Competition 2024."
From Tuesday, September 3 to Saturday, September 14, 2024, the "Student Formula Japan Competition 2024" was held online, as well as in-person at Aichi Sky Expo (Aichi International Exhibition Center, Aichi Prefecture). The Gifu University Formula Racing Team placed 5th for the second consecutive year. The competition, which featured 78 teams from both Japan and abroad this year, challenged students to compete in comprehensive manufacturing skills with vehicles they have conceptualized, designed, and built themselves.
On Tuesday, October 8, three students and their supervisor, Associate Professor KIKUCHI Satoshi, visited President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro to report their achievement. Representing the students, Mr. TAKAGI Kakuto, a first-year student in the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, said, "We are pleased with our 5th place finish, but there were areas where we could have aimed higher. We placed 2nd in two categories, but the margin to 1st place was very close. Next year, we will thoroughly analyze this year's challenges and aim for a higher ranking."
President Yoshida remarked, "Achieving 5th place in a competition that evaluates not only speed, but also comprehensive manufacturing skills is remarkable. Manufacturing technology is one of Gifu University's strengths, and I hope you will continue to pass on the skills and experiences gained from this competition to your juniors. I also wish that you will maintain your connection with the university and continue to contribute to its success." Expectations are high for the continued success of the Gifu University Formula Racing Team in the years to come.
