The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for Rearing Program for Basin Water Environmental Leaders 2024
On Friday, September 13, 2024, the "Certificate Awarding Ceremony for Gifu University Rearing Program for Basin Water Environmental Leaders (BWEL) 2024" was held at the Office of the President at Gifu University. Ms. Shiamita Kusuma Dewi from Indonesia, who is enrolled in the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science at Gif University, has completed her doctoral course.
BWEL is designed to produce environmental leaders who can properly assess and evaluate issues related to the water environment from multiple perspectives. These leaders are expected to address issues such as water pollution, lack of water resource and ecosystem protection that Asia and African nations are facing today. Since its inception in 2009, a total of 249 students have completed their studies under BEWL, and many of them are already performing excellent work as environmental leaders in Asian countries.
With the attendance of university board members, including President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro, Professor KOYAMA Hiroyuki, Executive Director of the Gifu University Organization for the Promotion of Glocalization (GU-GLOCAL) and a member of the BWEL Office, Professor Li Fusheng, Head of the Program Promotion Office and other office members, Ms. Shiamita Kusuma Dewi was presented with a certificate of completion.
During the meeting with the board members, Ms. Shiamita Kusuma Dewi stated, "After returning to my country, I will become a teacher at a university. I am determined to continue conducting my research in my country." President Yoshida gave the following words of encouragement: "Please continue your research and stay connected with Gifu University. I look forward to welcoming students from your university to our campus in the near future.
Gifu university will continue developing human resources who can contribute to the international community and engage in activities to realize a sustainable society.
