"Summer School 2024 in Kakamigahara" Results Presentation
The COC+ Project Promotion Consortium1) led by Gifu University, collaborated with the Commerce and Industry Promotion Division, Kakamigahara City Government (Gifu Prefecture) and held a "Summer School 2024 in Kakamigahara" over three days on August 28, 29, and September 4, 2024. In this summer school, 20 students from consortium member universities formed three mixed teams beyond their university boundaries and worked on the theme of 'Considering the Image Strategy of Kakamigahara City, the Town of Aerospace.'
On the first day, students learned about the overview of Kakamigahara City and the history and current state of the aerospace industry in the city at the Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum. Following this, students visited Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. which has played an important role in the development of Kakamigahara City, and then visited local supplier companies, Enomoto BeA Co., Ltd. and Wing Field Co., Ltd., where they learned about the strengths and characteristics of each company.
On the second day, Mr. Nagaki from the Commerce and Industry Promotion Division, Kakamigahara City Government, gave a lecture on branding and marketing related to the theme of 'image strategy.' After that, through interviews and interactions with representatives from the companies they visited on the first day, students deepened their understanding of image strategy and proceeded with group work towards concrete proposals.
On the third day, at the Kakamigahara City Industrial and Cultural Center, students gave the final results presentation to Mayor ASANO Kenji of Kakamigahara City, as well as to representatives from the companies and organizations that supported them, and members of the Kakamigahara City Government.

- A short-term/long-term workplace experience plan for engineering students to experience the reality of working and living in Kakamigahara.
"Experience the Charm of the Aviation Industry! Workplace Experience in Kakamigahara" - Fan Tour in the Aerospace City: A five-day tour for aviation enthusiasts to become fans of Kakamigahara City, the town of aerospace.
"Fan Activity Tour in the Aerospace Town" - Creating an amusement park-like atmosphere for the entire city and a human resource development program to connect to the future.
"A City Close to Aerospace"
At the results presentation, the idea of the 'Fan Activity Tour in the Aerospace Town' (proposed by Mippara-san team), was highly evaluated and awarded the Kakamigahara Mayor's Prize for its feasibility and representation of regional characteristics. The following are the students' comments on the summer school; 'By interacting with students from other universities, I was able to gain new insights,' and 'It was very challenging and difficult to think about and propose the city's attractions, but communicating with students from other universities helped me grow personally.'
The Gifu COC+ Project Promotion Consortium plans to continue implementing programs such as summer schools to cultivate students who can contribute to regional revitalization in Gifu.
