The Minimal English Test (MET) is a listening comprehension examination that consists of approximately 70 blank spaces in text on a single sheet of A4-size paper (8.3x11.7 inches), and it can be administered in just three minutes. Development of the MET began with a new need to assess the English language proficiency of English learners within a five-minute timeframe. Research indicates a strong correlation between MET scores and both scores on the English section of the National Center Test for University Admissions and TOEIC testing.

The MET Drill 'Daigaku Nyūgaku Kyōtsū Tesuto Chōkai-ban' (listening comprehension practice for the National Center Test for University Admissions) is co-authored by Professor MAKI Hideki from the Faculty of Regional Studies and Ms. Zhang Chao, a second-year student at the Graduate School of Regional Studies, Gifu University.
