Gifu University student team created a voice quality conversion website 'AI Zunda Web' using the latest AI and won the grand prize at the 'Giiku CAMP Advance 2023 Vol.4' held in Tokyo on Saturday, December 16, 2023. 'Giiku CAMP Advance' is a higher-level competition that only the winners of the 'Giiku CAMP Hackathon' organized and held by Supporterz, Inc. every month, can participate in. A 'hackathon' is a coined word that combines 'hack' and 'marathon' and has already become a well-known event where students who aspire to be engineers compete in developing programming works and other products in a short period of time.
In the hackathon held in November, Gifu University student team won the best prize and challenged 'Giiku CAMP Advance Vol.4.'

The student team developed an innovative website called 'AI Zunda Web' that allows anyone to easily enjoy voice quality conversion by simply pressing the record button on the web and recording their own voice, which can then be converted to the voice quality of any character.

On Thursday, January 18, the student team and their supervising faculty reported to President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro about their award. Mr. NAKAO Motoki, the team leader, said, "We felt the difficulty and importance of creating one work as a team in a short development period. We hope that people who have no knowledge of this AI voice quality conversion can also experience the technology we developed as it becomes more popular."

President Yoshida, who experienced the voice quality conversion on the spot, said, "I was surprised that my voice was converted exactly as I spoke, including the intonation. I hope you will apply this wonderful technology to develop services that can help people who have lost their voice due to illness to speak like their own voice."

Gifu University will continue to support the students who challenge new possibilities and expect further achievements and technological development.
