From Saturday, December 16 to Monday, December 18, 2023, Gifu University delegation paid a courtesy call on Université Internationale de Rabat (UIR), Kingdom of Morocco. The delegation members were represented by President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro, Vice President KAMBARA Shinji (International Affairs, Information and Deputy in Charge for Evaluation), Director YOSHINO Jun of the Applied Meteorological Research Center, and Manager of the International Engagement Division, Ms. KOBAYASHI Keiko. They met Dr. Noureddine MOUADDIB, President of UIR and other board members of UIR and inspected the city of Rabat, the capital city of Morocco and other places. This courtesy visit was realized thanks to the kind proposal of exchange between UIR and Gifu University made by H.E. Mr. Rachad BOUHLAL, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to Japan when the Ambassador visited Gifu University on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

At the meeting with Dr. Noureddine MOUADDIB, 18 people including vice president, and the deans of UIR discussed the possibility of academic and student exchange and joint research projects in the field of energy engineering. Both the Gifu University delegation and UIR board members agreed to proceed with the preparation for concluding a university-level exchange agreement in the future.

Gifu Prefecture and the Kingdom of Morocco have a long history of friendship, and Gifu University delegation's latest visit to UIR is expected to launch the student and researcher exchange and further accelerate the bilateral ties between Gifu Prefecture and the Kingdom of Morocco.
