On Saturday, June 3, 2023, "The 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences" was held, and a series of commemorative events drew a large number of participants. They were: "Commemorative Speech," "Commemorative Tree Planting," "Demonstration of Revived Oldest Japanese Tractor," "The 100th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony," and "The 100th Anniversary Commemorative Celebration."

First, Dr. TSUCHIKAWA Kenji, who is the 14th President of the Japan Racing Association and was invited as a guest speaker, delivered his speech at the "Commemorative Speech."

Next, President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro of Gifu University and Professor MITSUNAGA Tohru, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences planted yuzuriha tree (scientific name: Daphniphyllum teijsmanni), and Vice President SUGIYAMA Makoto (General Manager) (Evaluation, General Affairs, Public Relations and Fund) and Mr. MASEGI Toshiaki, President of Gifu University Alumni Association watered the plant. In the tractor demonstration, many spectators gathered to watch how it works and asked many questions to the staff on the site.

At the Commemorative Ceremony, after the speech by Professor Mitsunaga, the following four executive members gave their celebration messages; Vice Governor KAWAI Takanori of Gifu Prefecture, Mayor SHIBAHASHI Masanao of Gifu City, Chancellor MATSUO Seiichi of Tokai National Higher Education and Research System, and President Yoshida. They touched on the long history of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences, and expressed their high expectations for the future growth of the Faculty in the coming new age.

Professor Emeritus MUKAI Yuzuru of Gifu University who serves as the chairperson of the 100th anniversary commemoration booklet editing committee spoke about the history of 100 years of the Faculty, which was followed by the presentation of DVD about Gifu University festivals with portable shrines (from 1977 to 2003) by Vice President Sugiyama (DVD was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary). While watching the DVD, the participants were recalling the good old days. The Ceremony ended with a great success with everyone enjoying friendly atmosphere and sharing their old memories.

At the Commemorative Celebration, "Tabouno haru Kakami" craft beer which was jointly manufactured by the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and the Gifu Prefectural Research Institute for Food Sciences were unveiled, and the participants were given an opportunity to taste the distinctive flavor of the beer.

The series of 100th anniversary events offered all people concerned including the guests of honors, alumni, former and present academic and administrative staff to celebrate the significant milestone of the 100th anniversary since the founding of the Faculty.
