Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS) won the "MEXT Minister Prize at the 31st Grand Prize for the Global Environment Award."

The Award was created by Fujisankei Communications Group in 1992 for harmonious coexistence between business and the environment. Specifically, it aims to curb global warming, develop new technologies and products for a "recycling-based society," protect the environment, pursue new socioeconomic systems for the 21st century, and raise public awareness of the importance of protecting planet Earth. The Award is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Japan Business Federation, and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
