The 12th Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Competition and Award Ceremony

Gifu University hosted the "12th Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Competition ("Let's talk about SDGs! Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Competition") for the students of Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Compulsory School System (Elementary-Junior High).

Gifu University and Juroku Bank, Ltd. concluded a "Memorandum of Understanding on Partnership for Environment Conservation between Gifu University and Juroku Bank, Ltd." As part of this partnership activity and to raise people's awareness of environmental issues such as SDGs*, energy conservation, beatification activities and waste reduction, Gifu University seeks applications for "Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Competition" from students at Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Compulsory School System (Elementary-Junior High) every year. In the 12th Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Competition, winners of three golds, one Gifu University President Award, one Juroku Financial Group Award, and one Juroku Bank Award were announced.

SDGs: collection of 17 interlinked objectives designed to serve as a "shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future," formulated in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)

On Thursday, December 15, 2022, an awarding ceremony was held at the Office of the President, Gifu University. President YOSHIDA Kazuhiro handed out award certificates to individual winners. They were also presented small gifts from Managing Executive Officer, Juroku Bank. President Yoshida praised their efforts and said, "I felt your strong commitments to protection of the environment when looking at each of your works. Please take a lead in our conservation efforts as an environmental leader of the future." His comment was followed by a message from Managing Executive Officer of Juroku Bank, expressing the importance of people's joining hands to protect the environment.

Ms. MARUYAMA Sanae, Principal of Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Compulsory School System (Elementary-Junior High) also made a following comment: "Every student did an excellent job in creating his/her poster. You gathered information and studied hard about the environment on your own. Please consider this poster competition as a great opportunity to learn more about the environment and expand your studies."

Ninth grade student, KUSANO Shiori who won the gold talked about her wishes to protect endangered species after she learned that many species are already red-listed around the world. Her poster illustrates critical situations for many endangered species.

Awarded posters were exhibited at the University Library and drew a large number of visitors including local citizens. The posters are going to be exhibited at Kano Branch of Juroku Bank from Tuesday, January 10 through Friday, January 20, 2023, Ginan Branch from Monday, January 23 through Friday, February 3, 2023.

We hope that these poster competitions continue to offer people an opportunity to think about the environment and further enhance people's awareness for conservation.
