On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, General Meeting 2022 Gifu Regional Council for the Promotion of International Exchange was held online. Gifu University serve as Secretariat for the Council, and 34 organizations attended the virtual meeting on July 6.

The Council was established in February 2020 for the purpose of smooth acceptance of international students to Gifu Prefecture and promotion of exchange between students and local communities. Members of the Council include universities, colleges, local municipal governments, economic organizations, international exchange associations and private organizations within Gifu Prefecture. President of Gifu University has been serving as the President of the Council since its founding in 2020.

The General Meeting 2022 began with an opening speech given by Vice President Shinji Kambara of Gifu University (Deputy President of the Council). It was followed by a speech of Mr. Takao Yamada (guest speaker from the Student Support and Exchange Division, Higher Education Bureau, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) titled, "Latest Policies for Inbound Students." Mr. Yamada spoke about the current inbound and outbound exchange situations, and the Japanese government policies and measures for the post-Covid society.

After his speech, the members released the 2021 activity report and financial statements, detailed projects and budget for 2022, the "21st Japanese Speech Competition by International Students Residing in Gifu Prefecture" scheduled to be held in November 2022, and deliberations for new members of the Council.

After this General Meeting 2022 of Gifu Regional Council for the Promotion of International Exchange, 43 members of the Council will continue to engage in various activities for the benefits of international students and Gifu Prefecture, and promote active interactions between students and local communities.
