Announcement: Class Operations in time of Issuance of Weather Warnings and Traffic Disturbances

The followings are Gifu University Guideline on "Class Operations in time of Issuance of Weather Warnings and Traffic Disturbances." "Stormy Wind Warning" and "Special Warning*" are also the subjects of this Guideline. Please keep yourself updated about the weather conditions via TV, radio and the internet, etc. and make your own decisions to attend or not to attend classes. Also, please take extra cautions for your own safety taking into the situations on the traffic or roads into account. **********************************************************************

Gifu University Guideline on "Class Operations in time of Issuance of Weather Warnings and Traffic Disturbances"

Gifu University (excluding Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Compulsory School System (Elementary-Junior High)) stipulates class operations and examinations in time of announcements of "Special Warning," "Stormy Weather Warning," and suspension of public transportation:

1. Class Operations in time of Issuance of Weather Warnings

1) If a "Special Warning" or a "Stormy Wind Warning" is issued across Gifu City, classes are cancelled in accordance with the time of issuance:

a. All morning classes are cancelled if a "Special Warning" or a "Stormy Wind Warning" is issued as of 6:30 a.m.

b. All classes for the entire day are cancelled if a "Special Warning" or a "Stormy Wind Warning" is issued as of 11:00 a.m.

2) If a "Special warning" or a "Stormy Wind Warning" is issued across Gifu City after classes begin, or the weather is predicted to get worse, decisions regarding classes will be made by the Vice President (Academic Affairs and Student Support).

2. If traffic services are suspended due to natural disasters or a strikes

If train services of both the JR Tokaido Line (Nagoya-Ogaki Station) and the Meitetsu Line (Nagoya-Gifu Station) or bus services from Gifu Station to Gifu University are suspended due to natural disasters or strikes, the cancellation of classes is determined in accordance with the number 1 above.

3. If the situations do not fall into any of the above categories, the President and the Vice President (Academic Affairs and Student Support) will meet and notify the faculties of their decision.

4. The cancellation of classes due to the circumstances described in numbers 1 to 3 above will be posted on the Gifu University website, but posting of the information about number 1.a. (as of 6:30 a.m.) could be delayed, thus, please check the latest weather information on TV, radio, or the internet.

Special warning* :a warning of heavy rains, strong winds, blizzards or snowstorms, etc. the severity of which is greater than the level of an ordinary warning.
