Online Report Session: Industry, Academia, Banking Institution and Government Collaboration for Region-Based Human Resource Development Project

Online report session was held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 by the students at the Faculty of Engineering, and the students who are attending lectures at the Center for Collaborative Study with Community (CCSC), Gifu University. They are all participants of "Industry, Academia, Banking Institution and Government Collaboration for Region-Based Human Resource Development Project."

The major objectives of this "Industry, Academia, Banking Institution and Government Collaboration for Region-Based Human Resource Development Project" are; securing, fostering and promotion of settlement of highly-skilled workers in Gifu Prefecture in an effort to revitalize local economies through a strong partnership among the prefecture, business, academia and financial institutions.

Students at the Faculty of Engineering who are studying "Machinery Engineering Practice Course" were divided in groups and attended the lectures or took part in practical training programs provided by enterprises within Gifu Prefecture. On the other hand, students who attended the course titled, "Introductory to Regional Industries and Business Strategies; explore the nature of business in Gifu" offered by the CCSC, interviewed young employees working in Gifu and introduced summaries of the firms they inspected. This course is included in the "Next-Generation Regional Leader Fostering Program" that Gifu University has been strongly promoting over the years.

In the report session, Mr. Tomohiko Okamoto, President of NABEYA CO., LTD gave his words of encouragement to the students, who said, "I hope you learned a lot about business dynamics firsthand. For instance, you might find that solutions to managerial challenges can be translated into better business performances particularly in small and medium-size companies. I am truly looking forward to seeing you becoming a strong leader in Gifu in the near future."

It was followed by the comment by President Hisataka Moriwaki who stated, "I am deeply appreciating everyone concerned who provided our students an invaluable opportunity for "active learning." We are committed to further developing this project on campus next year and beyond.

A total of 29 student groups made presentations on their respective themes, and there were a lot of positive feedback from the students such as "I got insight into unique characteristics of Gifu industries."

Gifu University continues to implement this project through collaboration with Gifu Prefecture, businesses, financial institutions, etc. and promote human resource development, recruitment and settlement of talented individuals who are capable of addressing various challenges in local businesses and communities.
