On Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19, 2021, Gifu University's Soccer Club members hosted "The 1st GIFU UNIV.FESTIVAL U-9" for 3rd grade elementary students and under.

The festival was held as part of regional contributions while university soccer club activities are in the off-season. GU soccer club members did everything from asking sponsorship, festival operation, participants' registration, guiding to refereeing.

Twenty-eight soccer teams within Gifu City joined the matches. On December 18, children participated in qualifying league matches. Winning teams went onto a final tournament held on the following December 19. When all the matches were over, children voiced their strong desires to claim victory next year. Members of the club also gave them words of encouragement and wished them good luck for the next matches.

The 1st GIFU UNIV.FESTIVAL U-9 gave both the club members and children a moment of great joy and the festival is expected to be held in 2022 and beyond.
