Gifu University won the Grand Prize in Eco Unit Division at "Eco Test Award 2021" and the University became the first academic organization to receive the Grand Prize in Japan. The University received the prizes (Prize for Encouragement, Award for Excellence) for four consecutive years since 2018.

The major objective of "Eco Test Award" is to honor "Eco People (successful Eco Test examinees)" and works of the Eco Unit Division which could result in helping businesses, organizations or individuals raise their awareness about protection of environment and take environmentally-friendly actions.

Gifu University was highly praised for the following efforts and commitments: opening of new "Environmental Leader Course" within "Next-Generation Regional Leader Fostering Program" whose purpose is to develop human resources who can contribute to regional issues (the course opened in cooperation with Gifu Prefecture), students' active participation in compiling reports on environment and participation in environmental auditing on campus, and receiving "Sustainable Campus Award 2020 (Student Division)" for its student-oriented nature restoration efforts, etc.

With the latest wining as a great momentum, Gifu University continues to implement unique and original conservation activities.

What is "Eco Test?" It is hosted by the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The following are the three major features: - People can learn more diversified, complicated environmental issues from wider perspectives comprehensively. - People can learn the basics of environment and develop their understanding of SDGs. - People of all walks of life are taking the test as an introductory course of environmental education. Many companies in Japan are advocating the benefits of the test today.
