The Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Gifu University and the Gifu Prefectural Agricultural Technology Center (a prefectural testing and research facility in Gifu City) signed the Agreement on Education and Research Cooperation through "graduate school linking system*" on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Under this agreement, the two institutions will work together for the promotion of research activities, application of research results to communities, and expansion of education research activities. We believe that such joint endeavors by the two institutions will contribute to the realization of robust agricultural growth and cultivation of highly skilled personnel engaged in agricultural businesses in Gifu Prefecture.

On behalf of the two institutions, Mr. Kazuya Miyata, Director of the Gifu Prefectural Agricultural Technology Center, and Professor Tohru Mitsunaga, Dean of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology signed the agreement at the signing ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Miyata said, "Through a strong partnership with Gifu University, the center can move forward with various research projects by fully utilizing the cutting-edge technologies and knowledge that Gifu University has been developing for years. I also hope that the new agreement will give added impetus to our fostering of many youths who are capable of bringing about a real success to the prefectural agriculture."

Professor Mitsunaga also made the following statement; "Partnership with the Gifu Prefectural Agricultural Technology Center is of significant importance today when practical application and utilization of advanced knowledge and technologies are pursued than ever before by the members of agricultural communities."

With the new agreement coming into effect, Gifu University graduate students will take part in the prefecture's agricultural research programs and be given instructions from the researchers of the center. These active exchanges are expected to make a positive impact on students studying at the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology.

Graduate school linking system*: While accepting researchers from a partner institution as visiting professors, etc. graduate students at a host institution can engage in their research work under the instructions of these researchers.
