Winning of CAS-Net JAPAN 2020
Gifu University students' environment circle won "CAS-Net JAPAN* Sustainable Campus Award 2020" for its successful implementation of "Biodiversity Conservation and Nature Restoration Project."
On behalf of the circle members, four students paid a courtesy call on the Office of the President on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 and reported the wining and their conservation activities.
They were:
- Mr. Shun Nakato, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences
- Mr. Ryoto Fukuda, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences
- Mr. Kazuki Takahashi, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences, and
- Ms. Hinae Toyokawa, 1st year student of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences
One of the students made the following comment: "We are so grateful for the winning since we have just started our circle activities in 2019. We deeply appreciate kind support and assistance we received from many people. We would like to continue being a role model in nature restoration for waterhen, and student-initiated environment protection projects."
In response, President Hisataka Moriwaki gave a word of encouragement who said, "Both biodiversity conservation and nature restoration activities will take time before producing any tangible results. I sincerely hope that the circle's activities are taken over by your juniors and are maintained for long years to come."
Gifu University remains committed to conducting various conservation programs for realization of a "sustainable-minded university."

CAS-Net JAPAN(Campus Sustainability Network in Japan)was established in March 2014 to contribute to more environmentally sustainable higher educational institutions, governmental institutions and private companies through promoting campus sustainability at Japanese universities and establishing cooperative relationships with campus sustainability networks overseas. Awards are conferred to the universities for their outstanding programs/projects in three categories: "Facilities and Operations," "Collaboration and Partnerships," and "Student Engagement."
