"Career Seminar for Rikejo: Listen to stories of successful women engineers"
In conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering and the Gender Equality Promotion Office, the Intelligent Production Technology Research and Development Center for Aerospace, Gifu University hosted "Intelligent Production Technology Research and Development Center for Aerospace: Career Seminar for Rikejo: Listen to stories of successful women engineers" on February 21, 2020.
The seminar was consisting of three sessions, and its target audiences were the students of the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology.
In the first session, Ms. Kyoko Nishimura, Director, Manager of Global SAKES Department of Morimatsu Industry CO., LTD delivered a keynote speech and she talked about what people are expecting of Rikejo, or women with science background. In the second session, Ms. Nami Higaki from Aerospace Systems Company, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Ms. Kanako Mizuno from Denso Corporation introduced their job-hunting experiences and unique episodes after entering the companies. In the third session, the participants were divided into three groups and enjoyed informal talks with the speakers for some time.
The seminar was attended by 25 students. The following are the feedback from the students; "I really appreciate the opportunity to listen to the stories from those who have established themselves as successful business persons while raising their children." "I had a chance to ask what they had done to build their remarkable business careers directly from the speakers."
Both the speeches and informal gatherings inspired many students to give a serious thought to a possible career path to take in the future.
