Vice-Provost James Aldridge, Lakehead University (Ontario, Canada) visited Gifu University on November 19, 2019. He was warmly welcomed by GU academic staff and students. Attendees from GU were:

- Professor Hiroaki Wasada,

- Professor Akira Gassho,

- Associate Professor Muneaki Kamiya (all three are from the Faculty of Regional Studies),

- Specially Appointed Associate Professor Raymond Co (Gifu University Organization for Promotion of Glocalization; GU-GLOCAL),

- two students from the Faculty of Regional Studies who studied at Lakehead University as exchange students last year, and

- one student from the same faculty who is planning to study at Lakehead University soon.

Lakehead University and Gifu University signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Cooperation, and Agreement on Student Exchanges in October 2017. Under this agreement, student exchange started the following 2018. Two students who attended the meeting are the first outbound students studied at Lakehead University. They talked about their experiences in Canada with Mr. Aldridge in English.

We hope that active exchanges among students, researchers and staff between the two universities continue for many years to come.
