Gifu University Men's Handball Club took part in the 62nd Men's Japan Intercollegiate Competition (Takamatsunomiya Cup) held in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture from November 8 through 12, 2019.

Although Gifu University team ended up with the 16th in the ranking, the team's primal goal was victories in initial games, and their victory in the first match marked the first winning for the club in 40 years since 1979.

On November 15, the team visited the Office of President to report the results to President Hisataka Moriwaki." Many GU students have already made outstanding achievements, but I was very impressed with the news about Gifu University Men's Handball Club's winning the first match against strong opponents. I look forward to your best performance next year, too. Congratulations!" said President Moriwaki.

The club members said that they will tell their experiences to their juniors, and vow to secure more wins in the competition next year and beyond.
