Seventh Press Conference by President AY 2019

Gifu University held the seventh press conference by president AY2019 on October 3, 2019.

First, President Hisataka Moriwaki explained the new "Master of Health Professions Education, the Graduate School of Medicine" (starting in April, 2020) and its role in Gifu University Future Vision Toward 2025. It was followed by a presentation of Director Kazuhiko Fujisaki of the Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) about the background and future of this new master program.

Health professions education is a study of education for physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and other medical staff to teach students. There are 128 universities and colleges around the world (mainly in western countries) offering similar programs to medical staff, but not a single school in Japan is providing such a unique program today.

In 2001, Gifu University established the MEDC for the promotion and enhancement of medical education in Japan. Many successful achievements attained by the center for quality education to medical staff have been culminated in launching this new master program next April.

Physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, physical therapists, etc. who are in a position to teach students, are all candidates for the program, and they are expected to play a leading role in medical education in the near future.

Gifu University remains committed to accelerating and advancing medical education to produce highly skilled teaching professionals nationwide.
