The 6th Gifu University Alumni Association Meeting

Gifu University hosted the 6th Alumni Association Meeting in Tokyo on June 29, 2019. The meeting was held in Tokyo for the first time in commemoration of Gifu University's 70th anniversary. The meeting was established: 1) to provide the latest information on the university for the members of faculty alumni associations 2) to exchange opinions concerning the current situations of faculty alumni associations, and 3) by doing the two, the participants deepen their mutual understanding, strengthen ties between the university and the association as well as among faculty alumni associations.

At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Yoshida, Chair of the Gifu University Alumni Association gave his opening remarks, which was followed by the speech, "The 70th Anniversary and Integration with Nagoya University" from President Hisataka Moriwaki. Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director (International Affairs and Public Relations) later spoke about the activities of Gifu University for the past six months.

On behalf of the faculties, Associate Professor Jun Yoshino from the Applied Meteorological Research Center delivered a speech, "Toward multiple use of advanced weather information: activities of Applied Meteorological Research Center."

After the meeting, an informal gathering started with the addresses by Mr. Yoshida and President Moriwaki. After toasting with Gifu University's two new sake brands, "Tabou no haru Gizan" and "Tabou no haru Kyokufu," both of which were produced exclusively in Gifu, every participant enjoyed lively conversations surrounding the president and Dr. Suzuki. Because the latest meeting was held in Tokyo, many alumni living in the Kanto Region (including Tokyo) were given a chance to participate in the meeting. The gathering was a huge success and people enjoyed and renewed their friendship with each other for some time.
