Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Workshop at Hohoemi Nursery

Doctors and nurses in charge of emergency medicine hosted a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshop for teachers (18 in total) at Hohoemi nursery on June 11, 2019. It aimed to raise staff's awareness of emergency situations and instruct them how to perform life-saving medical treatments.

First, Dr. Sho Nachi (a clinical lecturer, the Advanced Critical Care Center, University Hospital) and Mr. Kenji Hayashi (ICU Vice Nursing Head, Division of Nursing) explained how to conduct CPR by showing a video clip to the participants. Later, they practiced administering emergency medical treatments by using a doll. They also learned the differences of treatments between adults and infants.

"There are cases that people can be saved thanks to a quick, timely treatment before a paramedic arrives at the scene. We all need to attend this type life-saving workshop on a regular basis." said Dr. Nachi.

Mr. Kosho Kasuga, President of Hohoemi also made the following remarks; "Regular practice of CPR will result in close communications among teachers, and their calm and proper decisions for children. We would like to continue to host the workshop by fully taking advantage of the proximity between Hohoemi (built on campus) and the University Hospital."
