The Gifu University 70th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony was held at Nagaragawa Convention Center (Gifu City) on June 1, 2019.

The ceremony started with President Hisataka Moriwaki's opening remarks; "We have been diligently striving to provide and engage in education and research activities for decades with the ideals, "Learn, Explore and Contribute" as our biggest mission. It is time for us to make a leap forward as a new Tokai National Higher Education and Research System, Gifu University in April 2020.

After his speech, the letter of appreciations were given to seven individuals and twenty-one companies to honor their contributions to the 70th anniversary events including Academic Archives programs, support for students and cooperation for education and research activities.

The commemorative music performance through the collaboration between the Gifu Symphony Orchestra and Gifu University Orchestra, and a keynote speech by Mr. Toshio Kinjo, the 9th president of Gifu University followed. He spoke about Gifu University's reform efforts and the days of his tenure as a president.

Approximately 400 people attended the ceremony, and jointly celebrated the university's big milestone of the 70th anniversary on June 1.

At the banquet after the ceremony, President Seiichi Matsuo of Nagoya University offered his congratulations to the 70th anniversary. Mr. Toshio Kuroki, the 10th president of Gifu University proposed a toast with two Gifu University sake brands, "Tabou no haru Gizan" and "Tabou no haru Kyokufu." They were produced by using everything within Gifu; rice (hidahomare variety) planted and harvested on campus, groundwater, and fermentation with yeast, etc. They were brewed at a sake storehouse in Gifu.

While an introductory video about Gifu University Academic Archives (opened on May 31, 2019), was shown on the screen, people enjoyed conversations and renewed their friendship for some time.
