The Gifu University Men's Handball Club ranked seventh in the Spring Tokai League Match in 2019, giving them a ticket to the participation in the West Japan Intercollegiate Competition.

In a final, breathtaking seesaw game with Aichi University of Education, Gifu University won by only one point margin, and its victory secured their participation in the West Japan Intercollegiate Competition first in five years.

Gifu University team lost at the preliminary matches last time, but it eventually competed at the Japan Intercollegiate Competition in the autumn league. If the team moves on to the Japan Intercollegiate Competition this time, its participation will also be the first in five years.

The West Japan Intercollegiate Competition is held at Sky Hall Toyota (Aichi Prefecture) from August 14 to 16, 2019. A total of twenty-four teams from western Japan will compete hard to get a ticket to the Japan Intercollegiate Competition.
