Professor Hiroki Yoshida's research on display at the MEXT "Information Square"

Research activities of Professor Hiroki Yoshida, the Faculty of Engineering are on display at the "Information Square" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) from January 4 to April 19, 2019. The theme is "Speedy recovery of degraded solar cells."

It is known that silicon solar cells degraded with the passage of time. If cells' performance are recovered, they will keep on conversion efficiency without replacement of new cells. If realized, they are very eco-friendly, producing no waste.

PID (Potential Induced Degradation) of silicon solar cells could be recovered from a few minutes to hours if electric voltage and current are applied on certain conditions. Professor Yoshida's work introduces the principle of degradation and recovery, development of recovery instruments. Please go to see his work at the square firsthand.
