Agreement on Collaborative Education Promotion for Regional Activation

Gifu University Center for Collaborative Study with Community implements a wide variety of educational programs that include internships to nurture the next-generation regional leaders. As the COC+* promoter, the center develops human resources capable of addressing regional needs and challenges for the future.

Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Gifu Office holds the Gifu Prefecture Rebirth Study Meeting since 2017 and has been working for cultivating human resources highly motivated for regional revitalization in conjunction with business entities within Gifu and Gifu University students. On October 30, 2018, the center and the office signed the Agreement on Collaborative Education Promotion for Regional Activation with the purpose of joint development of the next-generation regional leaders, and raising people's awareness of the importance of lifelong learning.

At the signing ceremony, Director Koichi Masukawa of the center and Mr. Kodama, Gifu Office Manager commented on the new partnership. "Gifu University and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co. have already been forging a strong tie with one another. Under the new agreement, we both hope to produce many more next-generation regional leaders for Gifu and advocating the merits and advantages of lifelong learning in this day and age with more healthy centenarians enjoying their lives" said Director Masukawa. Mr. Kodama commented that Gifu Office is the first entity within Tokio Marine Insurance Co., to conclude the agreement with the university for a joint development of human resources and promotion of lifelong learning, and he strongly wishes to contribute to fostering respected regional leaders through a sustainable, dynamic partnership with Gifu University.

With the signing of the agreement, the center and the office are expected to work closely together to reinforce the existing collaboration framework, and exert every effort to produce the talented personnel who can spearhead the efforts of revitalizing local communities in Gifu Prefecture.

*COC+ (Center of Community Program for Local Revitalization) projects: projects of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Their objectives include assembling people together to regions for revitalization by: - offering attractive job opportunities to students in collaboration with universities, local governments and businesses and, - supporting university's curriculum reform efforts necessary to cultivate personnel sought by regions.
