Gifu University joins Aerospace Industry Production Technology Human Resource Development/R&D Promotion Council*

On July 19, 2018, Gifu University President, Dr. Hisataka Moriwaki, Professor Wang Zhigang, Vice President for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration, representatives of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and officials of private companies in Gifu Prefecture attended the Aerospace Industry Production Technology Human Resource Development/R&D Promotion Council held at the Gifu Prefectural Government.

The Gifu Prefectural Government is currently considering to apply to the Cabinet Office for the state subsidies for universities and creation of local industries to achieve the goals of the project named, "human resource development/R&D in production technology toward formation of Japan's best aerospace business cluster**."

The goals include:

- Establish "Aerospace Production & Technology Development Center" within Gifu University as a human resource development and R&D base in production technology to boost productivities in aerospace business in Gifu Prefecture and to increase its competitiveness through industry-government-academia collaboration

- Invite engineers from private enterprises as lecturers, and introduce practical human resource development programs open to students of Gifu University, technical colleges and citizens

- Invite leading researchers and scholars from University of Washington where a lot of pioneering research activities on automation technology are going on in cooperation with The Boeing Company, and promote production technology R&D including robot technology, image processing and object recognition in manufacturing aircrafts

Gifu University has also implemented the "Business Training of Industry, Academia, Banking Institution and Government Collaboration Region-Based Human Resource Development Project" with the prefectural government since 2015 aiming for a stable influx of people to Gifu Prefecture by way of active interaction with local business, and offering employment opportunities to people looking for jobs in the prefecture.

Gifu University is setting its goal on becoming one of the leading educational and R&D bases in Japan enjoying high productivities and capable of adapting dynamic paradigm shift in business in partnership with the Gifu Prefectural Government, private firms and educational institutions in the prefecture.
