Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) hosts the 68th Medical Education Seminar & Workshop

Gifu University Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) hosted the 68th Medical Education Seminar & Workshop on June 2 and 3, 2018. There were six workshops and seminars, and a total of 183 people including lecturers from across the country took part.

The 68th Seminar & Workshop was held together with the 6th Japan Association for Simulation-based Education in Healthcare Professionals Meeting and the 19th National and Private University's Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry Administrative Staff Training. The participants discussed characteristics of contemporary students, definition of IR, clinical education in Japan, use of "Tips" for simulation-based education and other new challenges.

Dr. Joyce L. Pickering from McGill University, Canada was invited as a guest speaker, and she gave a lecture titled; "Simulation in Medical Education at McGill." The participants learned at firsthand about an operation of the Simulation Center of McGill University including its background, changes in the mindset of teachers and students, approaches for effective teachers' training, simulation education and debriefing. Everyone looked very impressed with the unique, distinctive ways of center operation while listening to her presentation.

As a collaboration center for medical education, MEDC hosts "Medical Education Seminar & Workshop" four times a year for development and improvement of medical education in Japan. The 69th Workshop & Seminar will be held at Shinshu University on August 18 and 19, 2018.
