The 3rd Press Conference by President for AY 2018 was held on May 29, 2018.

At the outset of the conference, President Hisataka Moriwaki spoke about the "the Innovation Hub for Smart Mold Processing" that will open in June this year, in association with "Gifu University Future Vision Toward 2025." Professor Wang Zhigang, Vice President for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration gave a summary of the hub.

With the workable population ever declining these days, highly efficient production systems to maintain regional economies are needed. The Innovation Hub for Smart Mold Processing facilitates collaboration among Gifu University, local businesses and public research institutes in adding sensing functions to the conventional mold, press forming and injection forming equipment in order to meet the needs of the public. Its primal goals are to build a "smart production systems" that will make it possible to detect early formation defects, to realize autonomous molding and adjustment of processing conditions with the use of IoT platforms for data collection and analyses.

"We expect the Innovation Hub for Smart Mold Processing takes the lead in creating the global standards in the academic and research fields that Gifu University excels in." said President Hisataka who expressed his high expectations for the hub.

The opening ceremony for the hub is held on June 7, 2018. A commemoration lecture and an inspection tour are also scheduled on that day.
