Gifu University Study-Abroad Fair AY 2018

Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) hosted the "Gifu University Study-Abroad Fair AY 2018" on April 18, 2018. The fair started in 2012 for the purpose of sharing crucial information with students about studying abroad including the level of language proficiency required, the university's study-abroad programs, etc. in hopes of more students studying overseas in the future.

The fair started with the greeting by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Vice President and Director of GHOGL, and the fair proceeded in accordance with "Gifu University Study-Abroad Fair AY 2018 Implementation Program."

At first, representatives of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and the Eiken Foundation of Japan informed the audience that TOEFL iBT and IELTS are considered to be two major global standards for English proficiency, and they introduced some of the characteristics of these two tests. Later, students who participated in Gifu University's summer school program and "TOBITATE! Young Ambassador Program" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) spoke about their experiences overseas. Changes in their mindsets, encountering of totally different cultures and chances of building human networks were one of the few episodes mentioned by the students. The summary of the Faculty Study-Abroad Implementation Program was also given to the audience. At the end of the fair, Dr. Mayumi Yamamoto, Director for the Health Administration Center spoke about the medical systems and the importance of health management while abroad.

Approximately 70 people intently listened to the presentations by the representatives and the students throughout the fair. Some of the students even asked questions of the speakers and the university staff for some time after the fair.
