Cooperation Agreement between Gifu University and Gero City

Gifu University and Gero City signed a Cooperation Agreement between Gifu University and Gero City on November 24, 2017.
The purposes of the agreement are as follows:
・Build a comprehensive, close partnership in diverse fields
・Deepen the partnership in a sustainable and expansive fashion
・By doing the two above, contribute to the establishment and growth of a lively community and to the development of human resources for the future.
By the latest signing between Gifu University and Gero City, Gifu University now has cooperation agreements with 22 municipal governments.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Hidehiro Hattori, Mayor of Gero City made the following statement: "Gero City has a serious depopulation problem today, but the city is rich in tourism resources represented by Gero Hot Spring, and is blessed with beautiful nature. Through strong cooperation with Gifu University, I would like to tackle population outflow with new, innovative ideas." President Hisataka Moriwaki of Gifu University replied, "Gero City is a big city and has a lot of thriving industries such as tourism and forestry. I hope many Gifu University students go to see the real situations of local communities and address problems and challenges of communities by way of dialogues and communications with local residents."

Gifu University and Gero City will continue to hold talks and discussions for people's settlement into the city, countermeasures against abandoned houses, etc.
