International Month 2017: 6th Networking with Local Companies

Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) hosted the 6th Networking with Local Companies as part of the International Month 2017 on November 15, 2017. This annual meeting started in 2012 in cooperation with Gifu Shinkin Bank Ltd. in order to offer key information about local businesses to international students hoping to find employment in Japan as well as Japanese students wishing to work overseas in the future. On November 15, four food service companies and sixteen manufacturing and international trade companies attended the meeting, and about thirty international and Japanese students were present.

In the first session, which is the first ever event since the beginning of the meeting in 2012, the participants were invited to enjoy a wide variety of sweets. After tasting both Japanese and Western-style sweets, they were asked about the impressions of these sweets. Many international students tried them for the first time, yet they fully appreciated their elegant flavors.

In the second session, companies made presentations about their businesses. All of their presentations were quite easy to understand for the participants, and they were attentively listening to the speakers throughout the session. Later, they moved to a different space where the students and the company representatives held casual talks with each other. Many questions were raised from the students when they visited each company booth set up at the venue.

It is hoped that more "glocal-minded human resources" who are blessed with both global and regional insights are produced from Gifu University by continuously holding this annual networking event.
