Letter of Intent among Gifu University, Gifu Pharmaceutical University and University of Salamanca, Spain

Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Vice President, Vice President Hideaki Hara of Gifu Pharmaceutical University visited University of Salamanca, Spain on November 9, 2017. They paid a courtesy call on Rector Daniel Hernández Ruipérez. There, with Governor Hajime Furuta of Gifu Prefecture as a witness, Gifu University, Gifu Pharmaceutical University and University of Salamanca signed the Letter of Intent. The three universities agreed that they continue to jointly host academic symposia and conduct Mino/Mt. Ibuki medical plant-document investigation.

Salamanca Hall within Gifu Fureai Plaza in Gifu Prefecture, was named after City of Salamanca. Gifu Prefecture and City of Salamanca have been enjoying a long-standing friendship from 1990 when Mr. Hiroshi Tsuji, native of Shirakawa Town, Gifu Prefecture, restored a pipe organ at Salamanca Cathedral, Spain.

With the conclusion of the Letter of Intent, the three universities will jointly carry out programs/projects. The first joint symposium will be held at Gifu Prefecture next spring as part of events to celebrate the 800th anniversary of University of Salamanca.

Under cooperation from University of Salamanca, Gifu University and Gifu Pharmaceutical University have already started document investigation at University of Salamanca Library whose establishment dates back to the 13th century.

Gifu University will make every effort to develop this interuniversity partnership with Gifu Pharmaceutical University and University of Salamanca.
