Three delegates from Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia including Vice Dean Sutarno and Graduate School Dean Hidayatullah paid a courtesy call on Professor Makoto Sugiyama, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences and Professor Masateru Senge, Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS) from November 7 to 9, 2017.

Gifu University and Sebelas Maret University signed the Memorandum of Understanding in July 2013. During their visit, the delegates discussed the start of Double PhD Degree Program with their counterparts at UGSAS in order to further facilitate exchanges among PhD students, teaching and administrative staff between the two universities. They actively exchanged opinions about curriculum and coursework as well as an ideal environment to accept inbound students.

After the meeting, the delegates were invited to visit the laboratories to see how Sebelas Maret students are carrying out research work at Gifu University. Currently, four PhD students, four master's program students, and four sandwich program students are studying at the university. When they arrived, the delegates got briefed on the laboratories by the professors who are supervising Sebelas Maret students, and listened to the presentations by the students about their ongoing research activities. The latest delegates' visit to Gifu University offered us another valuable opportunity to further enhance a strong partnership between the two institutions.
